Dan O'Bannon's The Return of the Living Dead has been giving the Blu-ray/DVD combo treatment, courtesy of the good folks at Shout Factory.
When a young man takes a job at a medical supply warehouse, he gets more than be bargained for when one of the older employees releases a strange gas into the air that not only resurrects the dead, but gradually begins to turn them both into zombies.
Meanwhile, a group of punks decide to party in the graveyard - definitely a bad idea now that all of the corpses have been reanimated and are hungry for blood - and, of course, brains!
The Return of the Living Dead is absolute fun from beginning to end, and downright hilarious as well. Taking inspiration from both Night of the Living Dead and The Evil Dead, this film spoofs the zombie genre, while adding genuine chills and thrills to the mix. Compete with soundtrack full of eighties pop songs, this is a cult classic that you don’t want to miss. It’s also pretty gory, so the queasy need not apply.
Special features on this two-disc set are plentiful, and include new commentaries, several featurettes, the work print of the film, interviews with the cast and crew, trailers, TV spots, and film stills.
This is a must own collector's edition for fans of the film, and comes highly recommended.
